It can be tricky to think of a new thoughtful gift for Mom each and every holiday. You want something that speaks to how much you care for her, but it gets harder and harder to keep coming up with new gift ideas throughout the years.
This post is here to help you come up with an incredibly thoughtful gift for Mom
1.Collectibles
Does your mom collect anything? Maybe you’ve noticed these little things throughout your childhood, but have never contributed to her collection yourself? Surprise her with a little addition, that shows you pay attention to the things she likes, even if it’s not something you have in common. My mom collects those “snowbabies” figurines and these wooden carved looking family figurines. Maybe your mom or wife, collects vintage pyrex, or Funko Pops. The point is you’ve taken note of it and it would be a nice surprise for that Momma in your life, who probably didn’t think you even noticed.
2. Hobbies
What does she do with her free time? Or if she’s insanely busy taking care of everyone else all the time, what does she wish she was doing with her “free time” ? Does she garden, knit, quilt? Is she obsessed with houseplants, baking bread or watercolor painting? Maybe get her something that fills that part of her heart and makes her feel like she’s her very own person. Get her some super soft alpaca yarn, or one of these bread saving bags. I can personally vouch that both are AMAZING. And if she has a complicated hobby that you’re not quite familiar with, get her a gift card and write a thoughtful card about how you want her to use it on some new cricut vinyl or accessories but you don’t know what the specifics are.
3. Favorite Products
Is your mom or wife in love with a specific line of products? Maybe she has an eyeshadow brand she loves. Get her a funky or fun pallet she wouldn’t buy herself. Maybe she has a favorite perfume or line of perfumes? It might be as simple as noticing her favorite brand of clothing or picking up a few special things from her favorite stands at the farmers market.
4. Her Goals
Has she become more aware of the chemicals in products and is trying to move towards all free and clear products? If so, maybe get her some clean products from The Honest Company, or Drew Barrymore’s makeup line “Flower”. There are so many amazing brands out there now promoting products that are actually good for your skin. For instance The Ordinary is a skin care line that specifically set a mission to make clean products affordable, and their products are raved about by skin care gurus. I personally swear by them.
5. Monthly Samples
Some of our parents are kind of stuck in their ways or they don’t know all the options out there for them to try new things. These days there are monthly subscriptions to literally everything and anything. For my Grandmother I have gotten her a tea french press and a 6 month subscription to Simple Loose Leaf. You can pick the type of teas and how many samples you want. I did this for Father’s Day as well and my dad basically asked me to keep the subscription going in perpetuity for any future Birthday, Father’s Day, or Christmas gifts. You could do a perfume sample subscription. Therabox makes selfcare boxes, you could set it up as a subscription box or just once. They even make one specifically for Mother’s Day.
6. Activities
Let’s be honest. Your mom probably just wants to spend time with you more than anything else. How wonderful would it be if that time was coupled with something that she enjoys. How would she like going to see a play with you, or a comedian? Take her somewhere to make pottery. Maybe one of her favorite artists is on tour and you could take her to a concert? Many of the local plant shops near me have workshops where you can come in an make a terrarium or repot a plant you have in their super nice potting soil and a cute pot.
I hope these ideas helped you to think of a thoughtful gift for Mom. No two moms are alike so we really need to approach gift giving from a more personal angle. No gift fits all Mamas.
